This past Thursday, the band Calling from Pluto had a charity release show for their new debut singles “Teeth” and “Pluto” at Wilson Hall that was free for Rowan Students to attend.

The show also doubled as a charity event in which they raised money for The Eleanor Corbett House, which houses single women and families within the Gloucester County Area. The concert was available through live stream as well as in person to audience members, so they can enjoy it from the comfort of their homes.

“We’re raising money for them [The Eleanor Corbett House] while also promoting our release,” said Amanda Valentina, the lead singer of Calling From Pluto. “We’re live-streaming it and recording it in the studio so we can have some live content to release.”

This is Calling From Pluto’s first single, as well as any live music that will be professionally recorded for them. They were assisted by members of Rowan University’s Radio Television Network to record their performance, which was led by their Vice President, Nick Seto, and assisted by other members of the network. The performance is available on YouTube, and the studio recorded version is available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

The event was hosted by the Track Two Podcast, hosted by Isabella Policarpo and Isabella Espinosa, an emerging podcast featuring two music industry students. This was their first event that they had ever hosted for listeners following the release of their first official episode. They announced the band, announced the songs they were playing, and gave commentary when needed.

“We’re going to be introducing everything as well as encouraging listeners to donate to the charity. We’re also going to be going around speaking with the audience as well as the band during off times,” said Espinosa.

The in-person performance was attended by a handful of people who are dedicated fans of the band. A lot of these students were also at their show for Red Oak Records and have voiced their excitement about this new release. Listeners have been highly anticipating this band’s music and are ready for official music to be released.

“I am most excited to hear the new songs they’re releasing tonight. I really like how the record sounds different from the live version and how unique they both are, and I think that is how this will be,” said Sam Davis, an audience member as well as the roommate of the band.

The two singles they have out as of now have been greatly received, and people adore it as much as they do their live music. They seem to be on the correct path, and as time goes on, their name becomes more and more known to Rowan Students.
